A provisional credit is a credit posted on a line of credit account while a dispute claim is being processed. Posting a provisional credit is an optional part of the dispute process, and posting this type of credit occurs after the dispute is opened but before the dispute decision has been made:

- Approve Dispute ↗ or Deny Dispute ↗
Please note the following when posting provisional credits:
- A provisional credit can only be posted on swipes with active dispute claims. Only swipes with the status of
"lineOfCredit.transactionStatus.dispute"
are valid for provisional credits. - The period in which the credit is applied depends on when the disputed swipe was made:
- If the swipe was made during the current period, the credit will apply on the same date as the swipe.
- If the swipe was made during a previous period, the credit will apply on the current date.

Disputes are made by borrowers to challenge the validity of a swipe made on a line of credit account.
Disputes are created and stored within the
Disputes
object, which is nested within theLineOfCreditSwipes
object. The dispute entity as holds the relationship between the dispute itself and other entities, such as the line of credit account, swipe, and potential credit.
